The Bottle Works sets on the site of the Tulip Bottling Company which was founded by Hungarian immigrants. For years the bottling company made and bottled soda of many wonderful colors all with the tulip on every glass bottle. In 1937 the company was purchased by Pepsi Cola. Pepsi continues today to maintain and operate facilities in the Richland section of Johnstown.
In 1993 the Bottle Works became the first building devoted to celebrating the cultural diversity of the area through the arts. In 2001 a second building, which was part of the Pepsi facility, was purchased. And in 2014 the two buildings where merged together and are now known as the Bottle Works Campus for the Arts.
Even as the Bottle Works continues to grow and expand with such modern advances as their green roof, the Tulip references still remain.
Today, the Bottle Works is a dynamic arts organization operating two cultural centers on Third Avenue in the historic cultural district of Cambria City. Bottle Works is proud to be Johnstown’s art mecca where artists can exhibit, create, teach and sell; musicians can perform; and visitors can explore, learn and ENJOY.
While the BPW are in Johnstown, the Bottle Works are proud to be showing two great exhibits, one from a local Johnstown artist. The Bottle works hosts many events in the company of their rotating exhibits and a wonderful local winery will be providing a sampling of locally made wines for your enjoyment while you are viewing the exhibits.

Celia Pearson's Molten Beauty
Based in photography, this exhibit joins more traditional prints with photo montages and works on silk hanging freely in space to tell a layered story: about an artist's experience of a 125-year-old workplace in Johnstown, Pennsylvania; about beauty in unexpected places; about the persistent human desire to create and to do meaningful work; about the spark of life everywhere around us.
