What is an all inclusive resort
All-inclusive resorts are wildly popular, for good reason. These packages make it easy for you to sun on the beach or explore new destinations or a little of each. One payment covers it all -- hotel, meals, taxes, entertainment, tips and more. Once you've boarded the plane, your mind is released from all decision making and your body slips into relaxation mode for your entire vacation.
Many people think all-inclusive resorts means crowded pools, mediocre meals and limited entertainment options. Have things changed! Today's all-inclusive resorts include hotels with unlimited activities and exclusive hideaways with championship golf courses and world-class spas.
If you've never been to an all-inclusive resort, or just want to know the inside scoop, here are some frequently asked questions:
What's included in my bill?
Costs are clearly spelled out in the package descriptions. They can include airfare, accommodations, meals, and entertainment. All taxes are included as well, along with resort fees and -- best of all -- gratuities. You can stash your plastic and cash the moment you arrive and never see menus prices or bar tabs.
Can I leave the resort?
Of course! It is your vacation, you can do what every you wish. The Travel Company will go over all the attractions in the area and take care of making your reservations. Most resorts have car-rental desks and concierges who can help you choose additional expeditions geared to your interests. Since you're not paying each time you dine, you're free to use your discretionary cash to zip over the treetops on a jungle canopy tour, climb ancient pyramids, or wander through local villages.
Can dine or use facilities at nearby resorts or outside of the resort?
Most resorts have enough activities and dining options to satisfy relaxed vacationers. But if you crave more activity, several resorts offer privileges at nearby properties so you can explore new restaurants, beaches, spas and destinations whenever you wish, included in the price. If you wonder out of the resorts for a taste of the native cusine, that will not be included in the price you paid at the resort, but normally will not cost that much extra.
What if I want a vacation without kids?
Choose an adults-only resort, which allows guests 18 and older.
